At Harmony Golden Retrievers, we are committed to raising healthy, well-socialized Golden Retrievers with wonderful temperaments for loving family homes.

​

Our love for Golden Retrievers began more than 30 years ago, when our young son went through a life-threatening illness. Our first Golden, Savannah, was incredible with him throughout his illness and recovery.

That experience left a lasting impression on our family and deepened our love and appreciation for this very special breed.

Over the years, our Goldens have always been much more than breeding dogs.

 

They are beloved members of our family. We have spent years researching bloodlines, breeders, health history, temperament, and genetics so that we can make thoughtful decisions when selecting the dogs that become part of our breeding program.

We place a strong emphasis on health, temperament, structure, and genetic history. Our breeding dogs undergo DNA health testing for common inherited conditions, and we carefully consider the known health history of their lines before planning a breeding.

Our commitment to health is also personal. Over the years, we have lost two beloved Goldens too soon because of genetic health problems. Those losses occurred before many of the genetic testing options available today existed, and they had a profound impact on how carefully we approach breeding now.

We do everything within our ability to reduce the risk of inherited health problems & to give our puppies the healthiest start possible.

We also believe that raising a healthy puppy goes beyond genetics. Our dogs are raised as family members, and we are very mindful of their environment, nutrition, socialization, and safety.

 

We avoid unnecessary exposure to lawn chemicals and pesticides in the areas where our dogs spend their time and encourage our puppy families to be equally thoughtful about the environment their puppy grows up in.

We strongly recommend crate training and basic obedience training for every puppy. Much of this training can be done by families at home, and there are many excellent trainers, classes, and resources available. A well-trained dog that responds reliably when called is not only easier to live with, but safer as well.

​

Our support does not end when a puppy goes home.

We also offer in-home coaching to help families prepare for life with a new puppy, establish healthy routines, and work through common challenges as their dog grows.

​

We offer guidance for both the early puppy stage and the often challenging adolescent months,

helping families better understand their dog and build a strong, positive relationship from the beginning.

​

Our goal is not simply to produce beautiful Golden Retrievers.

We want to raise healthy, confident, affectionate puppies that are prepared to become

Cherished Members of their families for many years to come.
